Two lonely chibis...
It was Friday afternoon. Chibi Quatre was feeling gloomy because all the other chibis were playing alone.
“Whatsa matter?” came a soft voice. Quatre looked up & saw a little girl about his size; she had long brown hair much resembling Lady Une's.
“I’m lonely; who are you?” Quatre asked hopefully.
“My name is Kathryn, what’s yours?” Kathryn asked, bouncing a round blue ball; it made a soft "boing" then leapt back into her hands.
“I’m Quatre. Wanna play?” Quatre asked, smiling.
“Sure. My daddy told me not to go too far from home. I live right next door & I noticed you were sittin’ here all alone jus’ like me so I ‘cided that I’d come see you” Kathryn said.
“Oh, wanna come inside? Lemme go ask Melody first.” Quatre got up happily & then went to find Melody.
“What’s the matter Quatre?” Melody asked, looking at him.
“Met a new friend--can she come inside?” Quatre asked hopefully, his big blue eyes grew wide.
“Sure, but only if it’s ok with her parents,” Melody replied.
“Thanks Melody,” Quatre said happily, hugging her, then skipping outside.
Kathryn was bouncing her ball on the sidewalk patiently.
“Melody says that if your parents say it’s ok then it’s ok,” Quatre said.
Kathryn smiled, “I’ll bring ‘em over!”
“Ok!” Quatra happily went in to tell Melody.
“Melody! She’s gonna bring her parents over here!” Quatre said happily.
“Great,” Melody said, smiling at how happy little Quatre was.
“This is their home”.
Melody came to the front door & saw a tall man that looked very much like Treize.
“Isn’t it prettyful papa?”
Melody looked down at the small girl at “Treize’s” side.
“This is Kathryn,” Quatre said, leading Melody to Kathryn.
“Hello." The man’s voice even sounded like Treize’s. “My name is Treize Kushrinada. You must be Melody.” Treize smiled kindly.
“Yes,” Melody replied.
“You are Quatre, right?” Treize looked down at the small boy.
“Yep,” Quatre replied.
“Papa, can I stay and play with Quatre?” Kathryn asked, clutching her father’s pant leg.
“Certainly, if that’s ok with his mother, of course. He could always come to our house and play,” Treize replied.
“You know, maybe that would be a good idea,” Melody said.
“Alright then, would you like to come to our house and play?” Treize asked Quatre.
“Yeah, I’ll go get my toys!” Quatra said. Kathryn followed him to his room.
“So, Treize, where do you live?” Melody asked.
“Next door,” Treize replied casually.
Kathryn & Quatre reemerged from the house and happily beamed up at the two parents.
“Well, let’s go then,” Treize said, starting towards the fence.
“Behave, Quatre,” Melody said.
“I will,” Quatre said, leaving with Kathryn and Treize to a huge castle-like home.
Inside...
“Wow! It’s so big!” Quatre said, amazed at the size of the living room.
“More room to play,” Kathryn said.
“Just remember the rules, Kathryn,” Treize said.
“Yes, papa,” Kathryn said. Treize smiled and walked down a hallway & disappeared around the corner.
“Where’s your daddy goin’?” Quatre asked.
“To his office prob’ly, but I don’t hafta worry ‘bout that. C’mon, this is my living room”.
Kathryn led Quatre into a large living room with light pink walls and a large chandelier hanging from the ceiling. Quatre noticed a large movie-screen size TV against the wall.
“Wow, you guys gotta be really rich to ‘ford all this,” Quatre said.
“Yeah, but it isn’t always fun bein’ rich ya know. Sure, you can have all the stuff you want but people don’t always like friends who are rich ‘cause they think the person is snobby. I’m really lonesome--it’s not fun to play by yourself,” Kathryn said sadly.
“What was it like?” Quatra asked, sitting down on a beanbag next to the one she was on.
“Well it was kinda like this...” Kathryn started.
Being Rich isn’t Easy...
It was a quiet evening.
“Papa, I’m gonna go play. OK?” Kathryn asked, peering in through the bedroom door.
“Alright,” came Treize’s reply as he put new roses in his vase.
Kathryn quietly walked down the stairs in her new sun dress. She wore a large bonnet with a blue bow on it. She noticed some kids playing in the field. She hurried down the stairs and went toward them.
“Hello,” Kathryn said, friendly-like.
“You're that snobby rich girl!” one of the kids teased.
“I am not,” Kathryn said. “You must be talkin’ about somebody else”.
“You live in that house! You’re the snobby rich girl,”
“Well I’m not as bad as rude POOR kids! At least I got class!” Kathryn shot back angrily.
“Hey, you're not nice!” another boy said.
“Well, neither are you! You shouldn’t talk about people you don’t know well!” Kathryn said angrily, storming off.
Kathryn sadly raced to her father’s bedroom; tears flowed down her peach cheeks as she burst into his room.
Treize looked up and immediately guessed what had happened.
“Papa!” Kathryn cried sadly.
“What’s wrong? Have the children been excluding you again?” Treize asked, lifting her into his lap.
“They assumed before they got to know me papa,” Kathryn replied sadly.
“Kathryn, what have I told you again and again? You shouldn’t play with children like that. They aren’t your friends,” Treize said, softly hugging her.
“Then who CAN I play with?” Kathryn asked.
Back to the present...
“Sounds depressin’,” Quatre said, hugging her like a friend.
“Thanks, Quatre. I hope we can be good friends,” Kathryn said, smiling.
“Yeah!” Quatre agreed.
“Want to play a video game?” Kathryn asked.
“Yeah, sure!” Quatre replied, picking up a controller. Kathryn & Quatre played for the rest of the afternoon until Quatre had to go.
Bye...
“Buh-bye Quatre!” Kathryn said happily, waving at her friend as he disappeared around the corner and into his house.
“Did you have fun?” Treize asked.
“Yep!” Kathryn replied happily.
“Good,” Treize said, smiling.
